How to propagate nepenthes

Many people may ask about the way how to propagate the nepenthes, and which is the easiest one, as so, I will share out some efficient and the easiest way what I have done from my experience...

Method 1: Water Propagation
Difficulty: 2/5
Time needed: 1-2 months
How to: Just cut down a few sets of stem from your matured / overgrowth plant, inclusive 3 nodes in a section, cut off 1/2 of the leaf to preserve energy, then put them into the clean water. After every week of water changing, about 1-2 months you may see your stem sprout with new nodes and new rootlets. Just plant them into sphagnum moss after their rootlets become established.

After 1-2 months, you may see some of the cutting show off their little rootlets clearly. I get 3/5 success rate for my first nepenthes water propagation. You may choose a healthier, stronger, when the parent is actively growing seem this may help promoting rootlets faster and greater the success rate.

Method 2: Propagation via media soil
Difficulty: 4/5
Time needed: 1-2 months
How to: Place the cuttings in a pot with the rooting media like sphagnum moss / coco peat and make sure there is at least 1 growth node below the soil level. Cut off about 1/2 of the leaf to preserve energy, seal the pot in a plastic bag and place it in an area with bright light but out of direct sun as your plant will be steamed---die. You may make a little hole on the plastic bag for air flow and open the plastic bag a little bit a day after nodes grown for weather adaption.

Method 3: Mother-plant-cut & leave
Difficulty: 1/5
Time needed: <1 months
How to: Just simply cut off excessive stem (for propagation or not), leave the remainder alone out of direct sunlight. More nodes you cut off, more new basal nodes sprouting out.

After effect, new nodes coming out. (2nd cut ady, you can see the shape of growth of my nepenthes)

Method 4: Plant from seeds
Difficulty: 5/5
Time needed: 1-2 months
Mature date: 2-3 years
How to: Just simply plant some fresh cultivated seeds onto the moss, spray some water, leave it alone in a place with NO direct sunlight as it may kill the seeds. Can place in a sealed container if the air humidity is low.
